Georgetown Loop Railroad/ The Larimar Cross

While in Denver, we decided to take a drive to Georgetown. A small town up Interstate 70, about 55 miles from Denver. This historic town has a train with two types of engines, steam and diesel. The ride was about an hour and 15 minutes long. We made a stop on the next town called Silver Plume. We had fun, however the girls were tired. Alexandra fell asleep next to Cam on the train almost at the end of the ride. We took great pictures.

After the train ride, we stopped at the town, the first, and last store, we went in is called the Santa Fe trail. This store carries one of the rarest stones in the world, there is only one square kilometer on volcanic blue pectolite on the earth. The stone was formed when a volcano in the Dominican Republic erupted and the heat fused the copper with the coral reef, causing this beautiful blue stone in an ocean blue color. Some believe that because it has so much copper, it is one of the great healing stones. looking around the store, I saw a beautiful cross. I have been looking for a cross since I went to Mexico but have not found anything. So when I saw this cross, I was excited. Then I saw the price and no way, no wonder I liked it. My sister in law was with me and she said, go ahead try it. Why not just to look and to say I had on one of the rarest stones! so I did. Then I went out to show Cam what I had found. We came in and I asked miss Paula Suggs, owner of the store, where did the cross go? I had gone about 5 minutes!! she said that she had just sold it to someone else. Since the store was celebrating their 50th anniversary, things where on sale but I never thought that she was going to sell "my piece" so quickly!!! Anyway. My sister in law wanted a beautiful piece too. That piece had been worn by Jennifer Gardner. Bummer I guess it was not meant to be! When I came out of the store my little niece Gillian hands me a box with a big smile on her face. Oh no I said to my SIL, you are crazy! and sure enough, she had purchased the cross for me. Thanks aunt Serena!

I like jewelry, specially unusual pieces. All my family has been very gracious about giving me beautiful pieces. As I've been getting them, I have thought about who will I pass them to, Alex or Sam. However I have not decided on this one.
