Huntsville, Alabama – September 2008
Just a quick update about the Gustav and Ike! Thanks to Gustav we all ended up leaving Louisiana for 9 days. Our beautiful family in Alabama welcomed all of us for the whole time. It was absolutely wonderful to seeing them. THANK YOU so much for your hospitality. We stayed that long we lost power and we had heard that food and was supplies were running short. The house was intact, we are so blessed, only the oak tree in the front got some damage, but it's still standing! We left the Friday before Gustav made landing (Monday September 1st) stayed in Birmingham Alabama at la Quinta Hotel for one night and the next day left to Huntsville, AL where my wonderful step brother and sister in-law live. Our neighbors stayed behind and they were very kind to keep us posted via text of what was happening here. A few days after the storm they were able to plug our refrigerator to their RV, this was really nice as our food didn't continue to spoil.
The girls and I decided to make the best out of it, an un planned vacation. My brother, sister and Cam worked most of the time but we were able to get away and do some fun things in the mean time. Alexandra really enjoyed seeing the rocket ship at the space center. When she saw the rocket ship she got really exited, she placed both of her little hands on her face and said " Oh my goodness, a rocket ship" it was too cute, she absolutely loved it.
Alexandra also enjoyed spending time with her uncle Dennis and Aunt Holley, she loved getting on his shoulders and making cookies with aunt Holley.
We had also heard that Ike was on our way again, this was not good as Louisiana took a pretty good beating from Gustav. It is sad that these things happen but at least we have some warning. I don't know much about all of our friends in Houston but we are assuming they are all fine.
Alexandra with 104 degree fever
On Monday Alexandra woke up whinny and irritable, I got close to her and I could feel the high fever. She started with 102 and slowly it climbed up to 104 (with Tylenol). I immediately called the doctor and they asked us to come in. Dr. Bankston checked her ears and throat and could not see any infection. Most likely it was a virus, however because her age and such high fever they had to do some blood work on her. Not easy! She didn't know what to expect! She cried and of course was very surprised plus the fact she was not feeling well it didn't help. I continued giving her the Motrin and her temp would go down and up again. Finally, Wednesday afternoon her temperature started to go down little by little without medication. Later that night she was down to 100. As many of you know we had a trip planned to California because our cousin Rose Azadan was getting married, this trip had bee already rescheduled due to Ike, and now with Alexandra sick we thought we were going to miss the trip altogether. Thank God and vitamin C for their work. Alexandra was back to normal the next day which was day we were traveling to San Francisco. Originally we were schedule to leave to CA on Saturday September 13 with Continental making a stop in Houston, exactly the day Ike made landfall therefore we had to reschedule not able to leave but until Thursday September 18th. Too much going on!!!
San Francisco, California September 18th 2008
10 o'clock still have not finish packing yet! Our cousin Rose is getting married on Saturday, we are so happy for her. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone…
Our trip was fast and furious, we arrived Thursday morning around 10 am, went to the hotel to get ready for dinner at one of Cam's uncles, our aunt cooked an incredible Persian dinner. Persian food is very difficult to make and it takes a long time. This was truly incredible. On Friday night we went to the rehearsal dinner at the father of the bride's restaurant, Cam's other uncle, also Persian food…super good food too.
On Saturday morning we went to meet Isabella, Cam's best friend daughter. What a cutie, we enjoyed meeting her after almost 2 and ½ years. Saturday night was the wedding. The wedding was incredible, we got to learn and enjoy some of the Persian traditions and music. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, the link to the web album is on the right hand side of this page. You may particularly enjoy and laugh at the pictures taken after the wedding of uncle Chad, Rod, cousin Sheila, Shena, and Baubak…hee, hee
Sunday- recuperating time, at the park and finally Monday back to Reality…. Alexandra and Isabella
