Well, Gustav is definitely on everybody's mind. We heard about the possible severity of it on Tuesday last week. I was in denial, I didn't want to have to deal with this. Alexandra had been sick over last weekend with stomach virus and now me. On Wednesday I felt extremely bad, stomach virus indeed! I sure had not felt like that in a long time. The worst was the back and body ache. Thankfully on Thursday morning I felt "almost" like new! The girls and I went to music class and then to Sam's to get some supplies to get ready for the hurricane. The mood in the city was still calm. I was a bit concerned when I found out that the water at Sam's was GONE and the gas station packed. I filled up the car and two 5 gallon cans, just in case. Cam had decided that we were staying and ride it out until he told me that he now had the stomach virus. I have never, never seen him so sick, I really was worried. Even though I had similar symptoms he had them non stop. We could not stay with him like this, he wanted for us to leave and leave him behind but of curse I could not do that. So we decided to leave Friday morning to Birmingham, Alabama, we were not sure when the counter flow was going to be in effect and honestly I didn't want to be stock in traffic with him sick and the girls. Before we left Friday morning I was able to make him a doctor's appointment 11:20 am. So there I was with a dilemma, but we had to go. My parents were also leaving and I wanted to caravan with them in case we needed the help.
The girls did well, we had to stop a couple of times, first at the doctors office (we stayed in the car with the dogs while Cam went to the doctor), then in a small town called Poplarville, next Meridian and finally Birmingham. We stayed in La Quinta Inn for one night and on Saturday morning we headed out to visit our family in Huntsville. Is so good to see them, we are very grateful to have such wonderful family. Now we anxiously waiting for Gustav to make landfall they said it could be around 2 am. Right now is 11:51 and I better go to bed.
